Mental Health & Wellness Support
On October 7, SISU Empowering Others held a Mental Health and Wellness Support Workshop as part of the Healthy Living Initiative. The session focused on helping participants take charge of their well-being by learning how to create a personal plan that includes mental health, fitness, and nutrition goals.
The workshop was designed to encourage reflection, conversation, and self-discovery. Participants sat together in small groups, guided by a SISU facilitator, to talk about what wellness means to them. They shared their challenges, strengths, and hopes for a healthier future.
Throughout the session, participants worked on creating their own Personal Wellness Plan, which helps them:
Understand mental health needs – by identifying stress triggers, learning coping skills, and setting self-care routines like journaling or meditation.
Set fitness goals – by thinking of small steps they can take every week to stay active, such as walking more, stretching, or joining group activities.
Plan for better nutrition – by choosing balanced meals, staying hydrated, and learning how food affects energy and mood.
The class atmosphere was warm and supportive. Everyone listened, shared ideas, and helped each other stay motivated. The facilitator encouraged each participant to believe in progress, not perfection — reminding them that even small changes can create big results over time.
By the end of the workshop, each person left with a written wellness plan they can follow daily. The plan helps them stay focused on both their mental and physical health goals, creating habits that last a lifetime.
This activity is part of SISU Empowering Others’ ongoing work to build healthier, stronger communities through mentorship, education, and empowerment. SISU continues to provide tools and guidance that help people improve their quality of life and feel supported every step of the way.
