Understanding Stress: Healthy Living Initiative at the Boys & Girls Club
SISU Empowering Others continued its Healthy Living Initiative at the Boys & Girls Club with another impactful class, this time focusing on the topic: "Understanding What’s Stress?" The session, facilitated with the dedicated assistance of Quanesha, created a safe and engaging space for young participants to learn how stress affects their minds and bodies—and what they can do about it.
The class explored what stress is, how it shows up in daily life, and ways youth can identify stress symptoms early. From physical signs like headaches and fatigue to emotional responses like anxiety or irritability, the session emphasized how important it is for young people to recognize their stressors.
Quanesha helped lead the group through interactive discussions and reflection activities that allowed participants to relate the topic to their own lives. The class also included simple mindfulness techniques and stress-relief practices that the youth could use at home, at school, or during moments of overwhelm.
Our Healthy Living Initiative is designed to build resilience, emotional awareness, and practical life skills in our youth. By starting these conversations early, we empower young minds to grow into healthier, more confident individuals.
A big thank you to Quanesha and the Boys & Girls Club for partnering with us and making today’s class possible. Together, we’re planting the seeds for a stronger, healthier future—one session at a time.
